Properties and application in use of the product

We have all tried it when setting up a new aquarium! The plants float to the surface when the water is poured on - or the neighboring plant is uprooted when a new plant is placed. It doesn't have to be that way. Use Tropica's plant tweezers when placing your plants in the bottom layer, whether it is a new installation or maintenance of an established aquarium.

Grasp the plant with the tweezers well below the root and pull the plant down into the gravel until it sits exactly where you want it. Carefully release the grip and pull up the tweezers.

Try it the next time you plant a new plant. The tweezers are also indispensable when you have cut the top shoots of stem plants and want to replant them next to the old stems.

Premium Nutrition is dosed every week in connection with water changes. Precise dosing is made easy using the pump bottle, where one press of the pump doses 2 ml of fertilizer. We recommend 6 ml to 50 L of water, but advise assessing the plants' needs - for example, yellowish/light leaves are often a sign of nutrient deficiency.

It is always recommended to change a minimum of 25% of the water in the aquarium every two weeks. If unwanted algae growth occurs, more frequent water changes (up to 50% per week) and supplementation with several fast-growing aquatic plants such as Hygrophila, Vallisneria and Egeria are recommended.

How to use the product

Premium Nutrition is added every week when changing the water. The pump bottle dispenses 2 mL per push. We recommend 6 mL (3 pumps per 50 L water per week), but recommend that this is set in accordance with plant requirements. For example, pale leaves often indicate lack of nutrition, but can also be due to poor growth. Echinodorus bleheri will often show lack of micro-nutrients. Regular dosing with Premium Nutrition can restore green and luxuriant leaves. Note, however, that Premium Fertilizer is a fertilizer and not a medicine for dying plants.

It is recommended that at least 25% of the aquarium water is changed every second week. If undesirable algae growth does occur, then we recommend increasing water change frequency (up to 50%) and planting additional rapid growth water plants such as Hygrophila, Vallisneria and Egeria.

Specialized Nutrition is dosed every week in connection with water changes. Precise dosing is made easy using the pump bottle, where one press of the pump doses 2 ml of fertilizer. We recommend 6 ml to 50 L of water per week, but it is advisable to assess the needs of the plants. In addition to micronutrients, Specialized Nutrition contains all the necessary macronutrients. The fertilizer can be used in situations where the whole plant shows a nutrient deficiency. Note that if there is incipient algae growth, the algae growth can worsen when the fertilizer is added.

Since Specialized Nutrition contains nitrogen and phosphorus, the dosage must be adapted to the plants' uptake so that unwanted algae growth in the water is avoided. If there are signs of algae growth, the dosage is reduced by 50%, and the water is changed more frequently than usual, for example up to 50% per week. The water change is not only for diluting the nutrient content in the water, but also helps to remove algae spores, residues and other accumulated elements from the aquarium water.

It is a complete base layer that can be used without the use of other types of base layers. Aquarium Soil is also an active bottom layer which lowers the pH and slightly affects the chemistry of the water. Therefore, we recommend a minimum of 2 weekly water changes (25-50% of the water) for the first 4 weeks after the aquarium has been started.

  How do I calculate how much Soil/Soil Powder I need to use if it is to make up the entire bottom layer?

  • Measure the length and width of your aquarium in cm, e.g. 90 x 60 cm.
  • Consider how thick a layer of Soil you want, e.g. 8 cm.
    With a sloping bottom layer, which is higher at the back of the aquarium, you achieve a good visual effect.
  • The calculation is then, length x width x layer thickness divided by 1000.
